Some gunmen yesterday killed three persons in Awka, Anambra State. The attack took place as tricycle operators scheduled a protest today. It was learnt that one of the three persons killed was a tricycle operator but the planned protest was said to be in connection with the perceived high fees imposed on the transporters by their leaders.

The three persons were gunned down at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Junction. He said the command had mapped out strategies to curb rampant  cultism in the state, adding that Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, had deployed men to investigate the killings.
