My government will make tourism a key revenue earner for Anambra State

The Gubernatorial Candidate of United Progressive Party, UPP, in the forthcoming November 2017 Governorship Election, Chief Osita Chidoka, has said that his government would make a conscious effort to make Anambra State a tourism destination. According to him, there is every need to preserve some relics including religious buildings and artifacts in order to show where we are coming from to where we are presently.

Speaking this Sunday, 27th August, 2017 at the re-dedication of the St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi Nnukwu and the Silver Jubilee celebration of the priestly ordination of the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye,  Chidoka, commended the Adazi-Nnukwu community and the church for the good work done on the renovation of the church building and advised that photographs of the old church built in 1923 and its subsequent evolution to the present edifice, should be brought and kept for posterity sake.

Chidoka, who was Minister for Aviation in the Goodluck Jonathan Administration, recalled his time as the Adviser to the Pope on Road Safety pointing out that he did a lot of study on the early church and its evolution stressing that such preservation would help everyone in knowing more about the Church.

Chief Chidoka said that his administration would place emphasis on tourism as a key revenue earner for the State thereby opening it up to the outside world. He donated the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira(N500,000) as his contribution to the complete development of the church.
