Bishop Okoye tasks governments to upgrade medical facilities in Nigeria to stop foreign medical trips

The Auxilliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye has advised the government at all levels to place much emphasis on the development of the medical facilities in Nigeria to curtail frequent trips abroad for medical checkups by government officials and wealthy Nigerians.

According to him, such upgrading would save the much needed foreign exchange for the country and offer better and much improved medical infrastructure to Nigerians.

Speaking at the rededication of St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi-Nnukwu and his silver Jubilee celebration of his priestly ordination, he used himself as a good example by pointing out that he does his medical checkups locally and commended the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi for putting in place improved facilities at St Joseph Hospital, Adazi which could be a referral hospital east of the Niger.

Bishop Okoye said that good medical facilities in the country would ensure better life for the citizenry.
