Pakistan army has handed over to officials of the Afghan Embassy, a list of 76 terrorists hiding in Afghanistan. The development came following a series of recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan which have killed over 100 people and injured many more. On Thursday, a bomber killed over 70 people and injured almost 300 at a shrine in southern Sindh province.

Pakistani security officials believed that the Pakistani militant groups now operate from Afghanistan border region and routinely launch attacks from there. The army said that terrorists attacked a Pakistani border from Afghanistan side and injured two soldiers. “Pakistani forces effectively responded. There are reports of few Terrorists killed in exchange of fire. Afghan embassy officials called in General Headquarters and list of 76 terrorists hiding in Afghanistan,’’ a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The army spokesman, Maj.-Gen. Abdul Ghafoor said that the Afghan officials were asked to take immediate action and handover the terrorists to Pakistan. The military has said earlier that Pakistan closed its border with Afghanistan hours after the suicide bombing in southern Sindh province on Thursday. Pakistan closed the border at Torkham, the busiest crossing, after a series of terrorist attacks in the country as security officials believed the bombers enter the country from Afghanistan. Pakistan Army Chief Gen. Qamar  Bajwa said in a statement that recent terror attacks were being executed on directions of hostile powers and from sanctuaries in Afghanistan.

Report says Pakistan and Afghanistan share a border of about 2,600 km, mostly porous, and the military seeks cooperation of the Afghan government to closely monitor the illegal cross-border movement.
