NECO boss, Prof. Obioma killed in Minna

The Executive Secretary, National Examination Council of Nigeria, NECO, Prof. Godswill Obioma is dead. He was said to have been killed by unknown assailants who laid siege on his house in Minna.

The wife, Elizabeth was quoted as having said on telephone this Tuesday morning that, ‘the assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything’. The professor was said to have arrived home from Minna when the assailants swooped on him.

Prof. Obioma has been having a running battle with some members of the examination Council’s Board since his appointment last year. It was not clear whether his death has any nexus with the board bickering.

He was aged 67 and was appointed head of the Council on May 14th, 2020. Before the position, he was Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC in Ebonyi State.
