Mass protest rocks Plateau over Appeal Court judgments

Tension enveloped Plateau state following a mass protest by aggrieved  PDP youths who took to the major streets on Wednesday, November 8, to vent their angers over the Appeal Court Judgments which nullified the elections of PDP candidates.

The peaceful protest was staged at Mararaban Jama’a round about, All Airport junction and secretariat junction where the youths in their numbers assembled in procession condemning the conflicting judgments by the Appellate Court.

However, combine security agents of Police and Army were drafted to strategic locations to keep vigil of any eventuality that might arise in the course of the protest.

However, during the procession, the security personnel consist of Army clashed with the protesting youths,while in an effort to disperse them, resulted in a clashed that causes many injured.

Our correspondent observed that,Traffic were disrupted for many hours forcing traders to hurriedly close their shops while passers by ran heltal skeletal for safety.

John Mark, PDP youth leader in a chat our correspondent at the protest venue said, we have to embarked on this peaceful protest because judgments that is going on was not favorable to what the people gave as their mandate.

He said: “The people gave their mandate but the judges are just dishing out judgment against the party,and that is what were protesting for in which we want the whole world to know of the injustices meted against the party.

Meanwhile, at the time of filling this reports, the situation has been brought under control as people go about their normal business activities.

Meanwhile, wild celebrations broke out also at mararaban Jama’a  round about and All Airport Junction Jos as hundreds of APC supporters welcomed Appeal court judgments sacking PDP National Assembly members.

The appeal judges in their various judgements nullified the elections of Beni Lar, member representing Langtang North/South, Musa Bagos,member representing Jo’s South/East, Peter Gyengdeng, member representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi and Senator Napoleon Bali , Plateau South.
