Kanu sacks Ozekhome, Ejiofor as counsel

Leader of Indigenous the People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has sacked his counsel, Mike Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

A statement from Kanu’s younger brother, Kanunta, said the decision jointly taken by the IPOB leader and his family was with immediate effect.

Giving reasons for the action, Kanunta accused Ozekhome of refusing to see his client in DSS headquarters, Abuja, after the May 31 case  and  stopping  medical doctors who were to examine Kanu on June 5 from doing so.

The statement read in part:  “I hereby formally notify Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and Ifeanyi Ejiofor that their services are no longer required in the Nnamdi Kanu case pending before the Supreme Court of Nigeria and all concerning him.  After Mazi Nnamdi kanu’s case on 11th May 2023, Mike Ozekhome has refused to see his client in DSS headquarters Abuja even after several messages from #MNK to see him. Secondly, for stopping the medical doctors who were to examine Nnamdi Kanu on June 5, even when he and lfeanyi Ejiofor were duly informed on June 2, and Nnamdi Kanu told them to inform his family to arrange that. For this obvious reasons and many more, Ozekhome SAN and Ejiofor are hereby sacked as Kanu’s counsels.”

Kanu’s family appreciated the lawyers for the time and efforts in the case, while advising that they hand over all legal documents in the case as soon as possible.
