APC convention: Ogbonnia Onu speaks minds of Ndigbo asks’ where is the justice in Nigeria”

Former Governor of Abia State and immediate past Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnia Onu took a swipe at the nation’s political injustice being meted out at Ndigbo when he asked where was justice in Nigeria for Ndigbo to be denied the opportunity to provide the next president of Nigeria.

Speaking at the ongoing national convention of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Abuja, Onu who also contested the position of the presidential candidate along with some others in a n emotion-laden speech wondered why the Igbo would not be allowed to produce the next president to assuage the marginalisation wounds of the past. He reminded the party faithful thronged the Eagle Square that he made a big sacrifice about 23 years ago when he relinquished his coveted Presidential slot of All Nigeria Peopls Party, ANPP, to allow Olu Faleye, a Southwesterner to emerge because it was agreed that head or tail, the next president of Nigeria should come from the Southwest.

He wondered how the South west would, after ruling for 8 years, and another 8 years as the vice president, get the position of the president without the Southeast having a shot at it. On the religious divide, he reminded Nigerians that the agreement was that after a Muslim as president, the next should be a christian but, he observed that what was playing out was for another muslim to succeed Buhari and emerge as the presidential candidate of the party against the arrangement in place.
