Anambra 2025 guber: Chukwuma declares for governorship

The former National Auditor of All Progressives Congress (APC) Sir. Paul Chukwuma has declared to run for Anambra State governorship election in 2025.

Chukwuma who declared his intention to contest during a press conference in his country home at Umueri in Anambra East local government area of the state said that he was coming to serve and to connect Anambra state to the centre.

He said that he was coming to rescue the state from the erosion menace in most parts of the southern part of the state if elected the governor in 2025.

Chukwuma who is also the Pro-Chancellor of Olivia University Burundi said that APC was tired of in-fighting and would conduct a free and fair primary election after which the party aspirants would work together for the success of the candidate at the general election.

He said that APGA as a regional party had not attracted any major project in the state, saying that Imo and Ebonyi were faring better than Anambra in infrastructural development because they were connected to the centre.

The APC chieftain said he had attracted projects and employment to the people of the state as a private individual running his business and promised to do more to put Anambra in the limelight if emerged as governor after the election.

He said that the zoning arrangement only existed in APGA, stressing that there was ever a time candidates from other senatorial zones did not contest the governorship election in the state in the past elections.

Chukwuma further stated that what Anambraians should be talking about now is competency and somebody who will salvage and rescue the state from infrastructural decay and other numerous problems.

He said: “it is who can deliver Ndi Anambra from the present insecurity and infrastructural decay.

The governorship is meant for those who can do the job, who is qualified,  competent and who has the capacity and zeal to connect Anambra to the centre and attract development to the state.

“I had approached the governor to join the moving train and connect to the centre but he decided to remain in his party. So, all my efforts failed to ensure that Anambra belongs to the ruling party for the interest of the state, but to no avail. So, I decided to come out to contest to connect my state to the centre and attract developmental projects.

“The state government and APGA administration alone cannot tackle the erosion menace in some parts of Anambra South senatorial zone. We need to be part of the party at the centre to solve our problems and talk to the president one on one and meet with other progressive governors to move the state forward.

“I’m coming to serve my people. God has blessed me with my efforts. I have not worked in any government establishment apart from the compulsory NYSC programme which I did in Abuja at the National Assembly. I’m self-made and I can count how many projects I attracted to the state and employment I have created and given to our people through my efforts. So, you will tell me why I should not do more if allowed to serve the state as the governor.

“Look at Imo and Ebonyi states, because they connected to the centre the benefit abounds. Look at federal projects in those states completed and ongoing. APC has benefited Southeast more than any other political party. Look at the second Niger Bridge, completed at the appropriate time, look at the Enugu-Onitsha expressway nearing completion and so on. Let the people of the state be wise and connect to the centre by voting APC in 2025” Chukwuma appealed.
