Agbaja Leaders of Thought vows to push for investments in Enugu State

Agbaja, Enugu leaders of thoughts outline plan for two-day summit in  November – Global Patriot Newspapers


The Agbaja Leaders of Thought  – an umbrella organization comprising of Udi, Ezeagu, Oji River, Enugu North and South Local Government Areas has expressed its preparedness to network with the business sector and government in the onerous task of charting the course of development and as catalysts of change to improve the lot of its people and Enugu State. According to it, efforts shall be geared towards reducing insecurity, providing the enabling environment for ease of doing business and better communal living.

In a communique issued after a 2-day Investment Summit held at the Amadeo Event Center, Enugu, Wednesday, 2nd and Thursday 3rd, November, 2022 the august body noted with sadness the unfriendly disposition of some communities in the Agbaja land capable of derailing investment opportunities attracted to the area with particular reference to the Enpower Enugu Industrial Park(Free Zone), pointing out that there would be urgent intervention by it to interface with the communities involved.

The Agbaja Leaders of Thought led by Rev. Prof. Chinedu Nebo, a former Vice Chancellor, UNN and Minister of the Federal Republic identified the cardinal policy of the summit to include investment opportunities, attainment and sustenance of the Free Trade Zone, need for production, consumption, supply and leveraging on the value chain in line with contemporary best practices. It further identified the notable industrial zones and tourist sites that could serve veritable needs for investment and energy if exploited.
The Agbaja Investment Summit attracted an assemblage of people from various works of life including the former Governor H. E. Sullivan Chime who chaired the event; the incumbent Deputy Governor of Enugu State H. E. Lolo Cecilia Ezeilo; Prof. Agu Gab Agu of Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT, Enugu; Prof. Joy Ezeilo SAN; Dr Gerald Otiji; Engr. Emeka Ene of Oildata Group; Rev. Surveyor Ugo Chime of Copane Group, traditional rulers, the youth, women groups, captains of industries, SMEs, Business Start-ups, friends etc.

Goodwill messages were received from the following: Dr Samil Hamrouni, CEO, World Free Trade Zones Organization; Ike Chioke, CEO, Afri-invest; Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, MD/CEO Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA); Ozonnia Ojielo, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Rwanda and Joy Egolum, Corporate Affairs Manager-Nigeria Breweries Ltd. the Summit also gave awards to the NBL a corporate body domiciled in Agbaja land; HRH Igwe IOU Ayalogu of Phinomar Farms and Prof Joy Ezeilo for entrepreneurship, professional excellence and stewardship respectively.

The Summit will be a yearly event, the organizers said.
