*HIGH CHIEF OCHIABUTO ORJI IS THE LEADER ISUOCHI NEEDS NOW – Ichie Emeka Okpara*
As the search for a new leadership for the good people of Isuochi Kingdom intensifies and ends in the next few days, with an election to elect a new President General of Isuochi Development Union, IDU and other principal officers to steer the affairs of the kingdom, the Convener of Ihe Abia, a non-governmental organisation committed to advocacy for transparency, accountability and good governance, Ichie Dr. Emeka Okpara has lent his voice in support of the emergence of Chief Ochi Orji as the new President General of Isuochi Development Union.
Speaking to newsmen at his Isuochi country home in Amuda, Ichie Emeka Okpara extolled the virtues of Chie Ochi Orji and singled him out as the most qualified person to lead Isuochi at this moment based on his character, capacity and experience both in the business world and in the affairs of the community.
According to Ichie Emeka Okpara, “the good character of Chief Ochi Orji is an inspiration to many people. He is honest, transparent, reliable and trustworthy and these are the traits that made him excel and perform exceedingly well in his business area, the field of engineering which requires a high level of consistency and articulation that only comes with such a model of character possessed by few men. It is that consistency of good character, honesty, reliability and trustworthiness that gave him the capacity to function in all the business and professional positions he has held including serving his community at various levels, from where he garnered the experience that would enable him to lead well”.
On the personality and experience of High Chief Ochi Orji, Ichie Okpara said, “Chief Ochi Orji needs no introduction in Isuochi because his influence and spread reaches all corners of Isuochi and is well known to all in Isuochi both at home and abroad arising from the positions he has held in all the branches where he has lived in. Having held the position of Assistant Secretary of IDU, Lagos branch, Secretary in Owerri branch and as Emeritus Chairman of the Port Harcourt Branch of IDU, it is clear to everyone that High Chief is very well versed in the dynamics of leading Isuochi people and would come into office with a heavy load of experience”.
Furthermore, Ichie Okpara said that Chief Ochi Orji has served the Amuda community in various capacities that makes it easier for him to galvanise the entire Isuochi and offer the kind of leadership that is required to move the community forward. “Having served Amuda meritoriously for 22 years, 15 of which he served as Secretary General and seven as National President, I have no doubt that such experiences make it a lot easier for him to mobilise the entire Isuochi for the forward movement that is required of Isucohi in this era”.
“I have seen his manifesto and it captures all that Isouchi needs at this moment in time. He talked about unity and that is the first thing that is required to galvanise the people to work towards restoration of the dignity of the Isuochi man, put resources together and build a community that would use the natural resources we have to create economic growth and development, work with all stakeholders to revive our cultural heritage and organise a regular homecoming of all to teach our younger generations what Isuochi is and what it means to be Isuochi, and uplift the status of our women to be partakers in the Isuochi project at all times. If a man says that he will do all these and is known to have the capacity, courage and the will to do what he says, then the good people of Isuochi should give him a chance to lead them” Okpara concluded.
He called on the good people of Isuochi both at home and in the diaspora to rally behind the candidacy of Chief Ochi Orji in the forthcoming election and ensure that he emerges as the new President general of Isuochi Development Union, IDU A great son of Isuochi, High Chief Ochiabuto Orji is from Umuehiehie in Amuda Isuochi and is married to a beautiful woman from the Olimah family in Ngodo Isuochi and the union is blessed with children.
