Habila’s father swears to an affidavit to discontinue investigation of daughter’s death

The father of the late Mary Habila , a Physiotherapist who was found dead in unclear circumstances in the private residence of Engr. Dave Umahi in Uburu, Ebonyi State has sworn to an affidavit of withdrawal of case at a High Court in Ebonyi State. In the 13-paragraph affidavit dated 13th July, 20206 and filed same date, sighted by Drumnewsonline, Mr Habila acknowledged that Mary was his daughter who before her death was a staff of David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences for more than 3 years and seconded to the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja.

He went on to aver that the late daughter was a personal Nurse to the Honourable Minister quartered in the Minister’s Guest House in Abuja and in Ebonyi State.

Mr Tanko Habila Wisdom said that while he welcomed the call for an autopsy on the body of his daughter to ascertain the cause of her death, his immediate family had resolved not to accept such medical procedure on the corpse of her late daughter. “That while I welcome steps being taken to unravel the cause of my daughter’s death, my family and I will not accept any autopsy on my daughter’s body” , he stated in the affidavit.

Habila Tanko proceeded to state that he was not ready for any investigation or honour any police investigation in that regard.

The death of the 26 year-old has elicited a lot comments from the general public calling for proper investigation on the actual cause of her death. Habila was found naked and unresponsive in the private residence of Umahi in Uburu Ohaozara, Ebonyi State recently.
