Remains of veteran actor, Sadiq Daba, buried in Lagos

The remains of veteran actor and broadcaster, Sadiq Abubakar Daba, were interred on Thursday in Lagos according to Islamic rites. The late Daba was buried at a cemetery in Agege, Lagos State amid tears by well wishers. The actor died on the evening of March 3.

Daba had a prolonged battle with leukemia and prostate cancer before breathing his last. The late actor came to prominence in the late 1970s when he featured in the popular Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) series, Cockcrow at Dawn as Bitrus.

Daba, later became a regular feature on NTA stations before returning to film prominence after featuring in Kunle Afolayan’s movie, October 1, where he played the role of Inspector Waziri. The actor won an Africa Academy Movie Award for the role.

Among prominent Nigerians who have mourned Daba include former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Dele Momodu, Kunle Afolayan, Joke Silva and Olu Jacobs as well as other actors.
