Pogba, De Gea, other prominent players out of Qatar 2022 World Cup

It’s usually a dream for prominent and upcoming footballers to participate in the World Cup. In the next six day, the Qatar 2022 World Cup will take off.

But some prominent players will miss out through injury, non-disqualification or non-selection.

Here are some of them who will not be part of the competition:

Sadio Mane – (Senegal / Bayern Munich) Injury.

Senegal’s head coach, Aliou cisse was Sadio Mane in his 26-man squad despite a tendon injury. Aliou, has shaken the whole world with the inclusion of Mane in the 26- man squad of Senegalese that will be participating in Qatar.

Mane world cup journey looked to be over after limping off in Bayern Munich’s 6 – 1 win over Wender Bremen on November 8. Bayern manager Julian Nagelsman said Mane ” took a knock to the head of his tibia. It’s always uncomfortable. He has to have an x-ray. I hope nothing is wrong.

French newspaper L’Equipe previously claimed Mane’s injury was severe enough to rule him out of the World Cup as a result of a tendon injury that will keep him out for ‘several weeks. It’s not clear if he’ll be fit to start the opening match but it seems it’s a risk worth taking for the Senegal boss.

Although the Senegalese superstar has posted on his official Instagram page that he is out of the tournament but his inclusion to the squad comes as a surprise.

Roberto Firmino (Brazil/ Liverpool) Dropped.

Brazil’s 26 man squad list didn’t favor the Liverpool starman, despite his stunning 6 goals in 12 matches this season Roberto didn’t make the list.

Firmino was dropped for Gabriel Matellini. Brazil’s head coach has said he picked Matellini because of the major role he’s played for Arsenal this season for the Title campaign. Arsenal currently seat on top of the table with a 1-point lead against rival manchester city in the premier League.

Paul Pogba (Juventus / France) Injury

Paul Pogba has been ruled out of this year’s world cup title defense. the formal manchester united star has been ruled out due to a knee injury he picked while on Pre-season duty for the old ladies.

Paul made a shocking return to Juventus earlier this year, he hasn’t played a single minute for Juve this season for the Italian Seria A, while it was thought he could recover in time for the world cup, he suffered a tight injury during his recovery, ruling him out of the World cup. This year has been a major blow for Pogba as he had fallen out of line with his elder brother who accused him of casting a spell on his France team-mate Kylian Mbape although the player has debunked the news and subjected the claim as false.

Ngolo Kante (France / Chelsea) Injury

Ngolo has been injury prone this season and succumbed to a hamstring injury issued early in the premier league in a 1-1 late draw against Tottenham this season. He has been out of action since mid-August. He hasn’t played a single minute for his Chelsea new boss Graham potter since appointed.

Ngolo has been a major blow for his club side this season as his absence has made them struggle for form, Ngolo was ruled out of the world cup a few weeks before the tournament. The formal Leicester city star will not be active for France’s world cup title defenses too.

Timo Werner (Leipzig / Germany) Injury

Timo Werner Limped off in the 19th minute of Leipzig’s Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk on November 2. Timo injury has heartbroken the player’s heart as he was just recovering to his form. Timo Werner spent 2 seasons with England Giant Chelsea football Club but has struggled to be at his best. Although the German was among the key player of the champions league winner for the blues in Moscow in 2021 that wasn’t enough. The German struggled to get 11 goals in all competitions for the blues last season.

Marco Reus (Dortmund / Germany) Injury

Marco Reus picked a knock during his last outing for Dortmund, Marco Reus has been confirmed to be missed out on the tournament and wasn’t named in the Germany 26-man squad.

Reus has been unfortunate with his injuries over the past years; it’s the second showpiece event that the Dortmund captain will miss through Injury. The German star didn’t participate at the Russia 2018 world cup tournament.

Georgino Wijnaldum (Roma / Netherland) Injury

The defensive midfielder will be missing out on this year’s tournament just like his team counterpart Paulo Dybala. EX Liverpool and PSG player Wijnaldum opted for Roma in other for him to revive his club career after falling out of team selection under Mario Pochettino. Winni suffered a broken leg just 12 minutes into the season; he has been ruled out of this year tournament for The Dutch team

Diogo Jota (Portugal / Liverpool) Injury

The Liverpool forward returned from a hamstring injury in early October and looks radiant, but the ex-Wolverhampton star suffered a calf injury against Manchester city in a 1-nil win for his team. Jota injuries are still a major blow for Portugal. They have named their squad for the tournament which he hasn’t been included in.

Reece James (England / Chelsea) Injury

Reece’s injury is a calamitous one for the England squad as he is one the potential starman at his position. The RWB picked up an injury while in action for his club against the wolves on October 8. James was in fine form before he suffered a knee injury. The England Starboy has been the subject of major dailies headlines as looking out if he will be fit for the tournament or not.

The promising RWB had earlier promised that he is working hard to make he comes back before the tournament begins and he will be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad but it was confirmed after a series of operations that the young lad will miss the tournament and has been verified by himself on his Twitter official handle.

Ben Chilwell (England/ Chelsea) Injury

The England Starboy has also been ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury. He wasn’t named in England squad that will be participating in Qatar. Ben has been unfortunate with injuries limiting him to play a few matches for his club side too. Chilwell was among the 2021 squad that won the UEFA champions league for Chelsea. Ben Chilwell is out of the tournament also with Arsenal’s young star Emile Smith Rowe. Smith is out of the World cup with Groin Surgery picked on Sept 29.

Kepa Arigbazalaga (Spain/ Chelsea) Injury

The newly revived Blues keeper has been fantastic in life under new Chelsea head coach Graham Potter after falling out of favor under Thomas Tuchel with form issues. Praises song has been sung to Kepa by his new boss. Potter has said Kepa work rate has highly increased recently. This has created heat for his counterpart Mendy was the favorite under Tuchel.

Kepa suffered a muscle tear in his foot, he has been left out of Spain 26 man squad by Enrique, the Spanish coach picked Premier League pair David Raya of Brentford and Robert Sanches of Brighton instead.

David De Gea (Man-U / Spain) Dropped

The Spanish football 25-man squad didn’t include David De Gea of Manchester united. Despite the Goalie’s superb CV, he fell off the squad that will be representing the Spanish Gaint. David has struggled for form this season and has been uncovered to too many Goals for his club side.

Tammy Abraham (England / Roma) Dropped

The Roma forward didn’t make Gareth Southgate 25- man squad to the tournament.

The 25-year-old striker, who has netted 4 goals in 19 games in all competitions for Roma this season, scored for the first time since September in their Serie A clash against Sassuolo on Wednesday.

Fikayo Tomori ( England/ Ac Millan ) Dropped

Oluwafikayomi Tomori was vacated from Gareth Southgate’s squad for the tournament.

Tomori, who helped AC Milan claim their first Serie A title in 11 years last season with several colossal performances, has continued to impress under Stefano Poli in recent weeks.

But it looks like the former Chelsea center-back hasn’t done enough to earn a place in England’s final squad this winter.

The Athletic report that despite a series of injury concerns at the back, Tomori has been left out – a decision that has already brought plenty of discussion among fans.

Back in September, Tomori was awarded for his fine form an England call-up; it’s shocking that he wasn’t accommodated in the final 26-man squad.

Sergio Ramos (Spain / PSG) Dropped

Sergio Ramos’ exclusion from the Spanish 26-man squad comes as a surprise to everyone.

The formal Real Madrid defender has fallen out of favour with Enrique and also missed the European Championships last year after an injury-plagued season. However, he has been a crucial component in PSG’s defence this season. His non Inclusion to this year squad appears that the 36-year-old might not play in another World Cup in his career.
