IPOB Sit-at-home shifts commencement of Enugu Legal Year to Sept 20

The new Legal year of the Enugu State Judiciary will start Tuesday 20th September, 2022, a shift from September 13th, 2022 originally scheduled for the event.  Though no reason was given for the shift, but it must have been informed by the declaration of a sit at home in the Southeast States by the Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB as a show of solidarity to their detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu who will be appearing at the Court of Appeal, Abuja same day.

In a letter dated 9th September, 2022 titled: ‘Rescheduling of the ceremony marking the opening of the 2022/2023 Legal Year of Enugu State judiciary’ sighted by Drumnewsonline, addressed to the Chairman, Nigerian Bar association, Enugu it stated that ‘The ceremony marking the opening of 2022/2023 Legal Year of Enugu State earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 13th September, 2022 has been rescheduled to hold on Tuesday, 20th September, 2022.

The Chief Registrar, High Court of Enugu State, Kingsley Eze in the letter outlined activities lined up to commemorate the event which included a Church service at the Christ the King Parish, GRA, Enugu by 9am; inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by a detachment of the Nigeria Police, at the Judiciary headquarters, Enugu by the Chief Judge and a Court session at the Justice A.I Umezulike Auditorium.
