How Tinubu saved Ex-Gov Nyako, by son

The Adamawa Central senatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako has said the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a good man who means well for Nigeria.

Abdul-Aziz said at a town hall meeting in Yola that Tinubu has over a long time built so much goodwill among Nigerians from all over the country that his patriotism is not in doubt.

Abdul-Aziz, who is the son of former Adamawa Governor Murtala Nyako, recalled his father benefitted directly from Tinubu’s goodwill in 2014 when he offered sanctuary to his father when he was impeached.

Speaking during a media interaction segment of his Meet-the-People town hall meeting in Jimeta as part of his Senatorial election campaign, Abdul-Aziz said all the talk about APC’s same-faith ticket is beside the point.

“We should view Tinubu for who he really is, a truly accommodating Nigerian who has been a help to people from all over the country,” he said.1

To buttress his point, he told a personal story of when his father, Murtala Nyako, was impeached in 2014, one year to the end of his term as the Adamawa Governor.Top 5 facts about Nigeria.

He said: “When Admiral (Murtala Nyako) was impeached, every governor in the North was asked to give him sanctuary where he could hide his head. Not a single governor agreed. The person who assisted Admiral was Asiwaju. Asiwaju and Saraki were the ones who took Admiral out of Nigeria. Asiwaju’s son was the  one who got accommodation for Admiral.”

Abdul-Aziz concluded that Tinubu is a good man who also has the quality to lead the country and who should be made the next president.
