A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday ordered that 20-year-old Nasiru Mohammed, be given six strokes of the cane for stealing a waste bin. Mohammed of Jabi Park, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge of joint act and theft. The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, convicted Mohammed as he admitted committing the offence.

The prosecutor, Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one Michael John of Haruna Street, Utako, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on Aug. 7. Zannah said that on the said date at about 7.30 p.m. at Utako, the convict and one other person now at large, intentionally and criminally stole a waste bin kept in front of the complainant’s house.
