Chief Joe Nwodo, eldest in the Nwodo political dynasty is dead. Dr Nwodo who had been battling an undisclosed ailment for years, died in London last night. He was to be the elected governor of Enugu State at a time but had to be replaced by his junior brother, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo as the gubernatorial candidate of National Republican Convention, NRC. Former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, John Nnia Nwodo, is the youngest in the politically-exposed brothers.

Chief Nwodo, a lawyer was a political heavyweight who aspired to be the Presidential candidate of NRC has been out of public space for years due to his health challenge. He was among the politicians banned by the then military president, Ibrahim Babangida. Burial arrangements would soon be announced by the family.
