Cameroun’s arsenal against Eagles

FC Porto’s Vincent Aboubakar and China-based forward Christian Bassogog are the headline names in the 23-man list released by Cameroon for their Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying double-header against Nigeria. The Indomitable Lions will battle the Super Eagles in Uyo on September 1 with the return leg in Yaounde on September 4.

Nigeria lead Group B with six points while the Lions are second with two points. Zambia occupy the third spot on one point and Algeria also on one point are bottom of the group. According to the list released on the FECAFOOT website on Friday, all the players invited are overseas-based.

Stoke City’s Eric Choupo-Moting is the only England-based player invited while Spain-based goalkeeper,  Fabrice Ondoa, who was in goal for the Lions at the 2017 AFCON and at the Confederations Cup in Russia, leads two other goalkeepers. China-based captain Benjamin Moukandjo is also on the list. Excluded from the list are Liverpool defender Joel Matip and Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was in action for the Dutch side on Thursday as they crashed out of the UEFA Europa League.
