BREAKING: KASTELEA Marshals escape lynching in Kaduna

In Kaduna, Wednesday morning, two patrol marshals of the Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA) escaped mob attack by an angry crowd over allegations that they were responsible for a tricycle accident at the popular Katsina Roundabout. While the KASTELEA officials fled the scene, they abandoned their power-bikes which were summarily set ablaze. The mob was said to have fled the scene before the arrival of security agents.

Eyewitness accounts alleged that the KASTELEA operatives’ pursuit of the tricycle led to the accident. As the incident occurred, the operatives tried to escape from the scene, but were unlucky  to have been caught by the mob just about 50 metres from the accident spot.

On the contrary, Assistant General Manager, Provost of KASTELEA, Benson Bivan, who came to the scene said his men were only trying to rescue the accident victims when the mob mistook them for causal agents. Bivan, however, vowed to apprehend the perpetrators of what he described as ‘unfair treatment to public workers on lawful assignment for the good of the society.”

The two injured occupants of the tricycle were immediately taken to the hospital while one of the marshals could not be found yet and his mobile line was not available as at the time of filing this report.
