Breaking! Confusion over alleged INEC letter on Tinubu.

There is confusion over a letter allegedly released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, IMEC in which it said it was studying the certified true copies of the judgement of an American Court in Illinois indicting the Presidential Candidate of All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Bola Tinubu of drug related offence and would make its stand known within 10 working days. Though Mr Okoye has denied issuing the letter, the statement allegedly issued today Saturday, 12th November, 2022 by the National Commissioner in charge of Legal, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, INEC said the commission was already liaising with the Northern Illinois District Court to get more facts about the judgment and was studying it to find out if there was any law as enshrined in Commission’s guidelines and the recently signed Electoral law 2022 which was flouted by the candidate.
The statement unequivocally stated that the Commission’s decision would be made public within the next 10 working days.
It would be recalled that the issue of Tinubu’s past life in the United States of America has been popping up in the nation’s political space but with no official action taken for alleged want of evidence. Even, his educational qualification, age and identity have been sources of controversy in recent times but the responsible authorities seem to look the other way without broaching the issue. It is yet to be seen what INEC would come out with but political watchers insist the commission
would not have the guts to do the right thing even as the issue(s) were weighty enough to disqualify Tinubu from contesting the forthcoming presidential elections.
Meanwhile, when contacted Festus Okoye was said to have denied issuing the statement on the drug verdict on Tinubu by the Northern Illinois District Court. He described the statement as not coming from him but handiwork of mischief makers. The controversy and confusion continues.
