A police vehicle conveying some mobile police officers on Tuesday crashed at the newly commissioned road linking the AYA to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) city centre. The new road – Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Expressway, was newly opened for use by the FCT Minister about three weeks ago. The vehicle conveying the mobile police men, according to eyewitnesses, was coming from the Federal Secretariat end of the road heading for AYA when the accident occurred.
One of the eyewitnesses who simply gave his name as Abdul said that he saw six liveless bodies of the mobile police officers being carried out of the vehicle and that several others sustained various degrees of severe injuries. Responding to a question on the cause of the accident, Abdul said: “What happened seems like a break failure because the vehicle was coming towards the AYA, lost control and crashed.”
Responding to an inquiry from The AUTHORITY, the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, Manzah Anjuguri, said that he was not aware of the incident. “I am not aware of the incident yet. When I am briefed, I will let you know. For now, I don’t know,” he said.
