Hon. Nwabueze Ugwu, a former member Enugu State House of Assembly and a gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during the recently concluded party primaries in Enugu State has said that the events of 2023 would usher in a better Nigeria. According to him, a new set of leaders that would bring the desirable change would emerge at all levels.
Hon. Ugwu, who is also a legal practitioner, told Drumnewsonline in an exclusive interview that the kind of political awareness pervading the nation would culminate in electing credible leaders that would deliver the .dividends of democracy to the electorates and not based on party lines or business as usual. “2023 would be different at all levels as it is an opportunity for Nigeria to toe the right path as a democratic nation” He however decried the insecurity in the country fearing that if the upsurge was not checked, it could mar the forthcoming general elections as some areas may not be conducive for polling activities. Hon. Barr. Ugwu urged the President to really assume his position as the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and steer the nation to safety.
It would be recalled that Hon. Ugwu among other aspirants, stepped down for the newly crowned gubernatorial candidate of PDP, Barr. Peter Mba at the party primary paving the way for Mba’s emergence. He said that he took the decision due to some political considerations and that Barr. Mba was also eminently qualified for the candidacy of the party in Enugu State. Ugwu represented Prof Jehu Nnaji and Dr Chukwudi Nneji also aspirants at the stakeholders meeting at Nkanu West LGA where Barr. Mba undertook a thank you-tour. He delivered their goodwill messages to the party candidate assuring him of their support.
