Makoko, a Lagos slum lying adjacent to the University of Lagos, Akoka from the Third Mainland Bridge view, is up in flames as at the time of writing this report. Drumnewsonline witnessed the inferno which was raging at about 6 pm with personnel of the fire fighting department not in sight. The fire was fast consuming all the shanties built by the shore of the Atlantic Ocean with thick smoke billowing to the sky.  A witness said the fire broke out around 5pm, but Adebayo Kehinde, spokesman of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), was quoted as saying that he had not received any report on the incident.
