President Muhammadu Buhari today met with the newly confirmed Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa behind closed doors. The agenda of the meeting was not disclosed however this is the first official meeting with the nouveau chairman.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, joined the new Chairman in the meeting minutes after it started. It is expected that the President would deliver to Bawa his expectations in the fight against corruption.

Bawa was confirmed as Chairman of EFCC by the National Assembly on Wednesday. He took over from Ibrahim Magu, who was removed from office months ago in fogy circumstances. Mr Magu’s confirmation as the substantive Chairman was stalled on two occasions citing security reports from Department of State Services.
