The Catholic bishop of Nnewi Dioces, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas-Benson Okoye has disclosed that no occupant of his vehicle sustained any injury or hospitalised. He also said that contrary to reports that there were 2 priests in his car as at the time it was only a seminarian and the driver.

In a reply to a WhatsApp post from a relation who contacted him to express concern over the accident sighted by Drumnewsonline, Bishop Okoye said that the report of the accident was over exaggerated. ‘This accident was exaggerated. There were no priests in my car. It was just the driver and the seminarian. We were never taken to the hospital. We rather assisted those who were critical and ensured that the vehicles were removed from the road.

‘ It happened two days ago. I’m good and have since resumed my normal routine. I thank God for His graciousness and mercies’.

He thanked God for His mercies as well as members of the public who expressed concerns and showed love towards him and other occupants of the vehicle as a result of the accident.

Bishop Okoye’s Toyota Prado SUV was reportedly involved in an accident with a white Hilux car along Agulu Lake Road few days ago.
