The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has won all but 6(six) of the State Assembly seats contested for in the last general elections conducted by INEC in the State. In a result released in Awka, it showed that the party won a total of 24 seats while the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP won 6.
The constituencies won by PDP were Anaocha 1, Ogbaru 1, Ogbaru 11,Onitsha North 1. and Nnewi South 11. With this result, APGA has clinched the majority seats in the forthcoming House of Assembly. The situation has given the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, some respite as there were fears that he might be impeached if the PDP wins the majority of seats.
INEC conducted only the House of Assemble elections in the State. The governorship election was conducted in the State about a year ago.
