Akanu Ibiam Airport, others to resume Int’l flights.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has said that international flights would soon resume at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, Port Harcourt International Airport and Kano International Airport. Though he could not say the exact time the international flight operations would start, he told a delegation of the House of Representatives from Kano State who paid him an official visit at his office that these airports were in the next schedule to resume.

The delegation was at his office to register its displeasure at the stoppage of international flights at Kano Airport pointing out that it was affecting the economic life of the North and especially Kano which is a business hub. The delegation comprised representatives from the North.

It would be recalled that these airports were shut at the onset of the Covid pandemic to curtail spread while the Enugu airport underwent repairs. Till date works were yet to be completed there. Presently, only the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja operate international flights.
