The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye and priests with him, escaped d*ath after his vehicle was involved in a near fatal accident along Agulu Lake Road on their return from Ukpor to Agulu. A Toyota Hilux car on top speed rammed into the bishops vehicle shattering the front of his Toyota Prado SUV.

The Bishop and the 2 priests men were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and all are currently receiving treatment under medical supervision.

Confirming this in a statement shared via social media, the Catholic Treasure Facebook page expressed gratitude that no life was lost in the incident.

“Thank God for the life of our dear Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye and two of his priests… Thanks be to God!” the post reads.

No information was volunteered to Drumnewsonline about the occupier of the Hilux vehicle as at press time.
